My Story
My descent to the bottom of the pit of despair — the moment I wanted to end my life with an overdose of crystal meth — began in a musty horse stall with my dad at six-years-old. From there, my childhood and teenage years were ravaged with sexual abuse, poverty, drugs, gang involvement, and all-consuming emptiness.
But long before, I was a little girl who loved deeply and freely. As the darkness grew, that love became buried beneath pain, fear, and distrust — until eventually, I lost the willingness and the ability to love.
At 20 years old, I was done, ready to give up and succumb to the darkness. Seconds away from ending my life, my sister called. That set off a chain reaction of intentional choices that led to years of overcoming pain and distrust, while also tearing down the walls I had built up to protect myself. It was a long, tumultuous journey to get to where I am now — fully embracing joy and love in every aspect of my life — and I’m ready to share the intimate details of the bumps and detours I took along the way.
My story is a love story, but not in the traditional sense. It’s a story of love between sisters, between friends, and yes, between lovers, but also between mother and child, and even between colleagues. It’s a story of love, the verb, lived out in daily life.
Who should sign up for Trish Kendall’s Book Journey Club?
This book is not a business book. It’s a book for you: the woman who has poured everything she has into her children, her partner, her job, her community…but never feels it’s enough--that you are enough.
Perhaps life has hurt you. Maybe you’ve experienced loss, disappointment, betrayal, or heartache. Maybe those experiences have taught you to doubt yourself, to doubt others, or to protect yourself from being hurt again. You’re holding something back because you don't want more disappointment, more loss, more heartache.
Despite all the struggles in your life, I want you to know that love is your greatest legacy. To love fully, and to teach your children to love fully is everything. You are enough.
Even if this isn’t you, we all know someone who fits this description: a wife, a daughter, a friend, a coworker, a neighbor. That means this book is for you too. Choosing to follow the journey of this book is choosing to love that woman in your life and inviting her to receive the love you have to give.
Will you join me on this journey? Pull up a chair, grab your favorite drink, and make yourself at home.
As a Trish Kendall Book Club VIP, you get to sit across a coffee table from me and listen, cry, laugh, and contemplate life’s moments. You’ll be inspired, invigorated, and most importantly, loved.
